Subcontract Vibratory Finishing you can plan around

Delivering consistent results, through short lead times, full documentation on request, and sample runs available.
Vibratory finishing

What is vibratory finishing and why it matters

In manufacturing, the last few microns often decide whether a part passes inspection or holds up in service. Vibratory finishing is a mechanical process that removes burrs, smooths edges and polishes surfaces by tumbling components with media and compounds in a vibrating bowl or trough. It delivers uniform results across batches without the labour and variability of hand finishing.

Why subcontract vibratory finishing

Hand finishing is slow, variable and expensive. PDJ’s subcontract vibratory finishing gives you consistent deburr, controlled edge radius and cosmetic polish without adding headcount. You get a proven process sheet, short and dependable lead times, and audit-ready documentation so bottlenecks stop dictating ship dates.
What “recipe-locked” means
We run a representative sample to tune media, compound, concentration, load, presentation, cycle time and rinse or dry. We record the edge roughness and condition. The same inputs produce the same outputs, every time.
Vibratory finishing
What we finish, where we shine
  • Precision machined parts in aluminium, steels, stainless and titanium where edge condition and tight Ra bands matter
  • Additive and MIM components that need smoothing without losing detail
  • Laser cut, punched and stamped parts that need true deburr with a uniform surface
  • Pre-treatments, pre-anodise, pre-plate and pre-paint surface improvement
  • Superfinishing to 0.05 to 0.03 Ra where geometry allows
  • Sectors, aerospace, medical, automotive, additive manufacturing and general engineering
How it works
  1. Free sample analysis
Send a small batch with target finish and edge radius. We tune media, chemistry and cycle time, then return finished parts with notes, including Ra or Rz, edge condition and handling.
  2. Your process sheet
Approve the outcome. We control the variables and lock the recipe so every run is repeatable and audit-ready.
  3. Short, dependable lead times
Tell us quantity and required date. We confirm the latest incoming window and hit it.
  4. QA and documentation
Traceability, photos and certificates of conformity on request.

Subcontract or buy a machine, a practical guide

Subcontract with PDJ
Best fit, new programmes, irregular or seasonal volumes, pilot batches, limited floor space and tight deadlines. No capex, no maintenance, no operator training and no media logistics. Typical outcomes, less hand finishing, stable cycle times, protected ship dates and more completed orders.
Buy your own machine
Best fit, steady, high volumes in a dedicated daily process. You gain schedule control and lower unit cost at scale, and you own capex, installation, chemistry and media management, training and QA. Many customers validate with PDJ, then move to an in-house cell when volume justifies it. We help specify size and capacity, advise on new or refurbished machines, load your proven recipe and train operators.
Vibratory finishing
Outcomes you can bank on
  • Consistent deburr and controlled edge radius, faster assembly and less premature wear
  • Uniform satin or polish, fewer cosmetic rejects and better perceived quality
  • Less hand finishing, lower variation and labour cost
  • Predictable cycle times, easier planning and happier schedulers
Fast decision checklist

If you say yes to two or more, subcontract is likely the quickest, lowest risk option,

  • Need finished parts in 1 to 3 weeks
  • Volumes are variable or project based
  • No spare operators for media and chemistry management
  • Want proof on real parts before committing spend
Vibratory finishing
Fast decision checklist
  • 120 plus vibratory machines on site and 180,000 kg of tuned media and compounds
  • Incoming inspection, in-process checks and final verification to your specification
  • Photos and certificates on request
  • Accredited to ISO 9001, working toward AS9100D and targeting completion by the end of 2026
Pricing and logistics
  • Per part or per batch pricing after your sample run
  • Volume breaks for repeat work
  • Collection and delivery available on request

FAQs

How fast is “fast”?
Typical turnaround is 24 hours once your recipe is validated. Share date and quantity and we confirm an achievable window.

Can you hit my Ra or edge radius?
Yes, from deburr with controlled edge break to cosmetic satin or superfinish to 0.03 Ra where geometry allows. We validate on samples first so production is not the test bench.

What if requirements change mid-project?
We re-validate on samples, update the process sheet and resume production so live work stays stable.

Do you handle regulated work?
Yes, aerospace, medical and automotive programmes with the documentation you specify, photos, certificates of conformity and lot traceability. PDJ is ISO 9001 accredited and is working toward AS9100D.

What if my volumes take off?
Keep running with PDJ or we help you justify and spec an in-house cell, supply new or refurbished machines, load your proven recipe and train your team.
