General Manager

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Reporting To: Managing Director, SurfacePrep UK
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Role Overview

Hogg Blasting & Finishing Equipment, part of SurfacePrep UK, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to lead our Newcastle operation. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the branch's operational performance, financial results, and long-term growth across the Northeast region.

The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 16 employees across sales, service, workshop operations, and administration, ensuring the business delivers outstanding customer service, operational excellence, and sustainable profitability. Working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, the General Manager will drive business strategy, develop high-performing teams, and maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

The Ideal Candidate

Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
Strong commercial and financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the business.
Resilient, organised, and results-driven with a hands-on leadership style.
Experience within blasting, finishing, surface treatment, engineering services, industrial equipment, or related sectors would be advantageous, although not essential.
