An expendable material is designed to be a low cost option for an open nozzle blasting surface finish. The aim is to create the desired profile, the desired surface texture, for a client without a large price tag attached to the job. This allows the customer to control the cost per contract and factoring in either little or no recovery of the material.
Typically in expendable is lower value but higher volume material. A recyclable product is normally used in an enclosed system, whether that be in a cabinet or in a blast room, and the aim is a lower volume use, higher premium material. Higher quality typically, but can be reused a number of times depending on the actual blast process.
