Dave Guest
Aftermarket Manager
Q: What’s your role - and how do you deliver value to clients?
As Aftermarket Manager, I lead the team responsible for keeping our clients up and running. That means rapid-response parts, specialist servicing, compliance-ready upgrades, and on-site training that prevents downtime before it happens.
Whether it’s a worn blast nozzle or a full refurbishment, we’re here to make sure operations stay productive, safe, and cost-effective. Unlike suppliers who stop at the sale, we stay accountable through the full lifecycle of the equipment, often becoming the partner clients call first, even before something goes wrong.

Q: What’s changed for customers since Hodge Clemco became part of SurfacePrep UK?
A lot, but all of it for the better. The biggest change is scale. Clients now get access to a wider range of equipment, abrasive media, and technical expertise across the UK, backed by a global group.
What hasn’t changed is the service. You still get the same fast response, the same Sheffield-based experts, but now with more tools in our toolbox. For example, we’ve shortened lead times on key spares and expanded our hire fleet to support urgent breakdowns. That’s already making a real difference on the ground.
Q: What sets SurfacePrep UK apart when it comes to understanding and meeting customer needs?
It’s the combination of technical depth and service culture. We don’t just supply equipment, we work to understand how your site runs, what your production pressures are, and how we can make your blasting and finishing operations more efficient and compliant.
With decades of experience across sectors like marine, defence, and fabrication, we can often spot issues before they cost you money. And because our team is trained across both product and process, we’re able to recommend not just the right part, but the smarter system
Q: How would you describe the company culture in three words?
Collaborative. Responsive. Trusted.
Whether it’s solving a technical fault at 6am or helping a new client design their first blast room, we work as one team. Everyone here knows we’re not just supplying kit, we’re helping keep someone’s operation moving. That mindset runs through everything.
