Q: What drew you to the surface preparation industry, and what do you enjoy most about working at SurfacePrep UK?
Surface preparation is one of those hidden but mission-critical stages in manufacturing, often the difference between failure and performance. That precision is what drew me in.
What I enjoy most at SurfacePrep UK is our hands-on, solution-first approach. We do not just sell equipment, we work closely with clients to solve real production challenges. Whether it is vibratory finishing in aerospace or blasting solutions for heavy industry, every day brings a new technical puzzle to solve.
It is also a business that values innovation and customer service in equal measure. That mix keeps the work rewarding and aligns closely with my own values, including curiosity, responsiveness, and care.

Q: What is the most common challenge customers face, and how do you help solve it?

Clarity.
Most customers know what outcome they want, such as faster throughput, consistent finishes, or regulatory compliance, but are not always sure which process or media will get them there. That is where we come in.
We start by understanding the full picture, including substrate, throughput targets, and existing systems, then recommend the right combination of process, media, and equipment. It is never about pushing what we have in stock, it is about finding the best long-term outcome for their operation.
Q: Can you share a recent project or customer success story that stands out?
A major infrastructure client needed to double output while meeting strict environmental targets. They were using expendable grit, which caused high waste volumes, rising disposal costs, and a significant environmental impact.
We introduced a heavy-duty grit recovery and cleaning system paired with a long-life recyclable abrasive. After successful on-site trials proved it could deliver equivalent surface quality with much lower operating costs, the customer invested in the new system.

Q: How do you stay ahead of industry innovations and developments?

As part of SurfacePrep, we are not just responding to innovation, we are helping drive it. Our R&D teams are constantly testing new processes and media, and we benefit from close collaboration with customers who are pushing boundaries in their own sectors.
We also invest in ongoing technical training, attend industry events, and run in-house workshops to keep our teams sharp. That combination of internal capability and customer feedback means we stay ahead of what is next in the industry.
